NDIAN SUMMER MUSIC AWARDS ISSUES CALL FOR ENTRIES
EXTENDS DEADLINE TO APRIL 30
MILWAUKEE—The fifth annual Indian Summer Music Awards (ISMA) deadline for entries has been extended to Wednesday, April 30, 2008. The goal of the ISMA program is honoring the best American Indian music commercially released between March 2, 2007 and March 1, 2008. The 2008 Indian Summer Festival runs Sept. 5-7, at Milwaukee’s lakefront Maier Festival Park. The ISMA Award show is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 6 at Indian Summer Festival. 2006
“The Indian Summer Music Awards are devoted to the recognition of both established and emerging artists and their outstanding contributions toward indigenous people music,” says Marie Elioff, Indian Summer Festivals, Inc. board member and coordinator for ISMA. “The awards are an example of how American Indian music is now being recognized around the world and is a statement for American Indian entrepreneurship.”
The music awards are sponsored by Mohican North Star Bingo and Casino, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, Looking Glass Productions and Lanex, LLC.
